How hard is the Mount Rinjani trek? Can beginners do it?
It's challenging but achievable for fit beginners — there's no technical climbing. Expect long days of 6–10 hours, volcanic sand underfoot and a steep summit push from around 2 AM. If you walk or hike regularly and prepare a little, you'll make it: our guides set a comfortable pace and the porters carry the camp.
When is the best time to trek Rinjani?
The national park is open April to December during the dry season, with June to October giving the clearest skies and the best sunrise odds. The park closes from January to March for the rainy season.
Which route will I trek — Sembalun or Senaru?
Our 2D1N summit trek uses the Sembalun route (open savanna, the fastest way up). The 3D2N starts at Sembalun, reaches the summit, visits Segara Anak crater lake and the hot springs, then descends through the Senaru rainforest. The quieter, scenic Torean route is available on private trips.
Do I need a licensed guide, or can I hike alone?
A licensed guide and porters are mandatory — the Rinjani National Park Authority does not allow independent trekking. Every trip runs with certified local guides who know the mountain, and that's already included in your package.
Where do we sleep on the mountain?
In four-season tents at designated crater-rim campsites, with sleeping bags and mats provided. Your porters set up camp and cook hot meals on-site before you arrive — you just walk in and enjoy the view. The night before the trek, a hotel transit stay is included too.
Is Mount Rinjani safe?
Yes, with the right team. We run small open-trip groups of up to 10, led by experienced first-aid-trained local guides, and we watch the weather and volcanic activity closely, adjusting the plan when needed. Your safety always comes before the summit.
What should I bring, and can I rent gear?
Bring sturdy trekking shoes, warm layers (the summit can drop below 5 °C), a headlamp, sun protection and a refillable water bottle. We provide the tents, sleeping bags, mats, all meals and cooking gear. Personal trekking gear — boots, poles, jackets — can be rented from us, so just ask if you're travelling light.
Do you offer hotel pickup?
Yes — free pickup and drop-off is included from the Mataram, Senggigi and Bangsal areas. Just tell us where you're staying and we'll arrange the transfer to the trailhead.
What's included in the price?
A licensed English-speaking guide, experienced porters, hotel transit the night before, all meals, a 4-season tent, sleeping bag and mat, cooking equipment, the national park permit, trekking insurance, and free pickup & drop-off in the Mataram, Senggigi and Bangsal areas.
How do I book?
